Recruiting in today’s game goes far beyond what happens on the field. Athletes who want to stand out must learn how to present themselves confidently — both in person and online.
In this episode of When the Cleats Come Off, Ashley welcomes back recruiting expert Tisha Mahon to discuss how athletes can build their personal brand and approach college camps with confidence.
Tisha shares practical insights into how athletes can use social media strategically, prepare for recruiting opportunities, and make a lasting impression on college coaches.
Why Building Your Brand Matters in Recruiting
Today’s recruiting landscape allows athletes to showcase more than just their on-field performance.
Tisha explains how athletes can use social media to tell their story, highlight their work ethic, and demonstrate their personality. When athletes consistently share authentic content, they give coaches a clearer picture of who they are both as players and as teammates.
Building a strong personal brand can help athletes stand out in a crowded recruiting environment.
Preparing for College Camps With Confidence
College camps are one of the most important opportunities for athletes to get in front of coaches.
Tisha shares how athletes can prepare mentally and physically before attending a camp so they arrive ready to perform. Confidence, preparation, and the ability to compete freely often leave the strongest impressions on coaches.
Learning how to approach these environments with the right mindset can make a major difference.
Making Coaches Take Notice
Standing out at a camp isn’t just about performance — it’s also about attitude, effort, and communication.
Tisha discusses the small details that coaches often notice, including body language, hustle, coachability, and how athletes carry themselves throughout the day. These elements can set athletes apart just as much as their athletic ability.
